Drainage Ratio Controls Phytoplankton Abundance in Urban Lakes

چکیده
Urban lakes located in densely populated regions are highly vulnerable freshwater ecosystems compared to rural areas due intense anthropogenic activities. However, the impacts of intrinsic lake morphometry on water quality urban remain unclear. In present study, 14 and underlying factors associated with such were explored Wuhan City, China. Of these surveyed lakes, 92.9% eutrophic or hypereutrophic; phytoplankton biomass ranged between 3.2 62.0 mg/L was positively correlated drainage ratio values (catchment area/lake area) during bloom season. These results consistent fact that small a large watershed area generally exhibit high levels areal nutrient accumulation rise ratio, supporting growth. There no significant differences diversity among (p > 0.05), remaining stable at low Shannon index 1.9–2.9, which is possibly eutrophication pressure similar local climatic conditions across relatively limited study area. Overall, this will provide valuable foundation for future efforts improve management lakes.

Urban lakes: interaction between phytoplankton dynamics and trace metal speciation
Urban lakes have a particular influence on the water cycle in urban catchments. Thermal stratification and a longer residence time of the water within the lake can boost the phytoplankton production. On the other hand, trace metals are naturally found in environment in trace amounts due to erosion and physic-chemical or biological alteration processes. Trace metals are essential to growth and r...

This study involves a phytoplankton summer/autumn survey in 46 Virginia lakes and reservoirs during 2010-2012. A total of 307 taxa were identified which included several filamentous and colonial cyanabacteria in bloom concentrations. With the exception of one natural lake, the other sites sampled represent impoundments created decades ago, with the majority presently classified as mesoor eutroph...
متن کاملAnalysis of Methodologies for Assessment of Urban Drainage Impacts in Lakes and Reservoirs
The water quality of rivers, lakes or reservoirs changes in both short and long term. For a given catchment with known pollution sources, different combinations of hydrologic and pollutants discharges scenarios may result in different impacts in the water quality. The objectives of the present work were to analyze the methodologies currently used for assessment of pollution impacts in lakes and...

Phytoplankton plays an important role in the material cycle and energy flow of the ecosystem, Therefore in this study, the distribution, frequency, and biodiversity of phytoplankton in Elimalat Lake were investigated. Sampling was performed in Elimalat Lake sessonally, located in Nur City, Mazandaran province, in 2019. In this study, 70 species of phytoplankton were classified into 5 phylum ...
متن کاملPhytoplankton ecology of subarctic lakes in Finnish Lapland
The climate is warming and it is most noticeable in the arctic and subarctic areas, where the warming trend is expected to be the greatest. Arctic and subarctic freshwater ecosystems, which are a very characteristic feature of the northern landscape, are especially sensitive to climate change. They could be used as early warning systems, but more information about the ecosystem functioning and ...
